Dear 8th Grade Parent/Guardian:
We hope this communication finds you well. In anticipation of our Grade Eight Commencement Ceremony, we want to provide you with information, via this letter, that all parents and students need to know, understand and adhere to on the day of the ceremony. Please read this email in its entirety and fill out the brief survey at the bottom so that we can gather much needed data in regards to the number of students and family members that plan to be in attendance.
First, please know that Lyndhurst High School has their graduation scheduled for Monday, July 6, 2020 with a rain date of Wednesday, July 8, 2020. We, as a district, have prioritized the LHS graduation ceremony to be completed before the eighth grade ceremony. Therefore, our eighth grade ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, July 9, 2020 with a rain date of Friday, July 10, 2020. All evening ceremonies will take place at 7pm.
Should the LHS ceremony be postponed for rain on both July 6th and July 8th, they will move their ceremony to July 9th, thus pushing our eighth grade ceremony to July 10th. However, if the LHS ceremony is postponed until July 10th, then their ceremony will take place in the evening at 7pm, and the eighth grade ceremony will be moved to an 11am ceremony on July 10. We as a district would like to complete both of our graduation/commencement ceremonies by Friday, July 10th.
Further information focused on specific details of the ceremony (including our plans to follow all social distancing guidelines) will be shared with all involved over the next couple of weeks. However, we will inform you now that each student will only be allowed two family members to attend the ceremony so that we can adhere to Governor Murphy's Executive Order guidelines for graduation ceremonies. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate this unique time.
