Miss Roofe's Third Grade
Dear Third Grade Families,
I hope you had a great summer and are looking forward to beginning third grade. My name is Miss Roofe, and I will be your third grade teacher. I am very excited to begin the new school year! We are going to be doing so many fun and engaging activities together as we learn many new things. In language arts, we will be learning different skills and strategies to help us become better readers. In Social Studies, we will be learning about maps, Native Americans, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty. In math, we will be learning how to multiply, divide, solve two-step word problems, and measure. In science, we will be putting on our “scientist hats” and conducting experiences, while learning about different topics such as the weather, life cycles, and force and motion. We’ll also be completing fun and engaging cross-curricular activities. One of my favorite projects is the Famous American Living Wax Museum where we bring history to life!
We will be using Google Classroom this school year. Our class code for Google Classroom is uxumvbr. Students must check in for attendance by 8:10am on Google Classroom by replying to a daily question under the stream tab. If students do not check in for attendance, they will be marked absent for the day. Other daily announcements will be posted under the stream tab, too. Students can find their work under the classwork tab. I will further go over how to use Google Classroom at our first zoom meeting. I will also be using the app Class Dojo as a way to communicate with families. Log in information for this will be sent to you soon. Please find our daily schedule under the schedule & weekly reminder tab or Google Classroom.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Enjoy your last few days of summer! I am looking forward to meeting each and every one of you!
